'Rockefeller’ extradited to California to face murder charge

(NECN)—Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, the German-born man who posed as a member of the Rockefeller family, was flown out of Massachusetts on Wednesday to be arraigned in California on a murder charge from 1985.

His arraignment is scheduled for Friday at the Alhambra courthouse of Los Angeles Superior Court on a charge stemming from the death of Jonathan Sohus.

Gerhartsreiter was convicted in the 2009 kidnapping of his 7-year-old daughter, and had been serving time on that sentence in Massachussetts. He was living in a guest house in San Marino, California, when Sohus disappeared.

Boston lawyer Brad Bailey said Gerhartsreiter plans to plead not guilty.

Gerhartsreiter came to the United States in the 1970s and gained wealth and eventual notoriety as an imposter of Clark Rockefeller.
