Urban, who maintained his innocence, was wrongfully convicted by a jury of rape and was sentenced to 6 years in State Prison. Brad, took the case shortly after Urban began serving his sentence and filed an appeal. After considering his appellate brief, and hearing Brad's argument, the Court of Appeals reversed Urban's convictions granting him a new trial. Brad petitioned for Urban's freedom and he was released from prison. The Commonwealth appealed and Brad argued the same issues before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. The SJC also agreed with Brad's argument and Urban's convictions were, likewise, overturned and a new trial was ordered. The case was ultimately dismissed without re-trial.
